STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- For some Staten Islanders, it has been more than a week since the Department of Sanitation (DSNY) cleared the trash from their curbs, and officials are now tying the extensive delays to looming COVID-19 vaccine mandates -- and promising to work with union leaders to address the issue.

The reports of delayed trash pick-ups have come from all corners of the Island, including North Shore neighborhoods like Port Richmond and Castleton Corners, Mid-Island neighborhoods like Dongan Hills and Grasmere, and South Shore neighborhoods like Huguenot and Tottenville.
